Had the e-mail today. I was just thinking that when it comes on my British Origins subscription will be a bit redundant, so thanks for the tip on having to let them know when you want to cancel.

I haven't had an e-mail from Ancestry informing me about the 1841 census yet!

Guys, if you dont get newsletters - I think I get one every month or so, you can go into ancestry my account and I think tick a box there to get updates.

I have had the newsletter despite the fact that I don't actually subscribe to Ancestry (penniless student being my excuse - if I manage to earn a bit of cash I will). It also asked 'Are there any leeks or daffs in your tree?'. If they'd seen my tree they'd have realised what a stupid that is - Jones, Hughes and Evans all the way!

Wish they would publish Scottish Censuses. I also have Ancestry but no newsletter yet, obviously feel we in the Frozen North wouldn't be interested!! Still Scotlandspeople will publish 1841and 1851 returns 'in early Jan and Feb 2006'. Ho Ho Ho! It's now March and still no returns! Christine in snowy Scotland

TAKEN FROM THEIR NEWS RELEASES TO JOURNALISTS: JANUARY 2006 'News item #4 – 1841 Census…? Ancestry.co.uk has been busy working on the 1841 census which is the final piece of the jigsaw that completes our census collection for England and Wales. At the start of 2006, Ancestry’s digital preservation team were busy working on the remaining 10% of the census at the National Archives. These records required additional cameras, lights and filters to view the original enumerator booklets that were written in light pencil. Microfilm is largely illegible on these records as experienced genealogists can attest. Now that these images have been taken, Ancestry is busy working on completing the collection.' FEBRUARY 2006 'News item #3 - UK Collection Update New Collections: 1841 English & Welsh Census-work continues on reviving the remaining but key 10% of census images rendered largely illegible (reference last month’s newsletter.) '

Once the 1841 comes out on Ancestry I wonder how many British Origins subscriptions will be cancelled. And a warning to all the British Origins subscribers - they will renew your subscription automatically unless you contact them to cancel it. They do not send you an email to ask if you want to renew beforehand. Found this out for sure yesterday having put a thread on here asking about it - and then emailed them to confirm.

Hi Just had a news letter from Ancestry telling me that the 1841 Census is due online soon. Has anyone else been notified? Anybody any idea of when it will be launched? Cheryl
