Today I received two death certs from GRO, one in the normal A4 envelope , the other was folded into 3 and shoved in a SMALL ENVELOPE. ....... It has 2 creases in it . ......I have over 70 certs and this is the first one received in this condition........Has this happened to anyone else?..... i'm a wee bit annoyed......Kat |

Kat There's been a few threads about this. It seems to be new policy. nell |

Yep - it's to do with the new postal laws coming in soon - size as well as weight now matters. Update: well thats what I was told. see other thread |

Or alternatively it's to do with a shortage of A4 envelopes! |

Sorry I hadn't seen the other thread re this. I knew the PO were going to do this because it is going to affect my work but it isn't in force yet, at least I didn't think it was. Kat |

On another thread earlier it was mentioned that the supplier of envolopes to the GRO has not been able to get enough A4 envolopes to the GRO so they have resorted to using smallet ones. |

I had two certs come through folded and shoved in an envelope, yet I recieved a cert toady that was in the standard A4 envelpoe. In the smaller envelopes, they seem to of made the cert is on a bit smaller. |

My two certificates eventually arrived. One was folded in 3 and the other in an A4 which the postie folded before shoving in our letter box. As I live in Melbourne our letter boxes are at the end of the drive... just lucky it's not raining because our postie often leaves the letters half sticking out Grrrr then I would be whinging big style. |

Received one folded one on Monday, much to my disgust, and received two normal sized ones today!!!! Would rather not receive folded ones but if the alternative is to wait longer for it, then it's something I can put up with. |

I'm like you Geri - at the moment I'd be happy if they turned up screwed up in a ball:)) |

I was filing some new certs I'd received this year just last night (in large envelopes) and noticed that the very first ones I received from the GRO, about 6 years ago, were all in small envelopes! This was before they had online access and your address label was written in your own hand, they used to cut it off the bottom of the form and put it in the envelope along with the cert. Looks liek they went from small envelopes to big, back to small again! Brenda |

I'm a very 'neat and tidy' person and was horrified when I read on here the other day that certs were arriving folded lol! However ... since receiving a folded one myself, I think I'd rather have them folded very neatly (which it was) than shoved through my letterbox in a very flimsy A4 envelope. I've looked back through a few certs and the two very straight creases do look better (IMHO!) than random scrunches :)) Mandy in Somerset (now plotting a way of stealing the GRO's entire supply of A4 envelopes) |

just for the record the sixe wieght thingy comes in to force in AUgust. An A4 size letter wiil cost more from then... so I expect this will ebcome the normal thing for GRo as it will work v expensive and we all know who'll end paying more don't we?? 21 August is when pricing in proportion will be introduced. http://www.royalmail(.)com/portal/rm/content2?catId=400105&mediaId=21100324 |

If you use the GRO's priority service, they always come folded in small envelopes!? The local RO's usually use small envelopes too. Doesn't bother me, so long as I get them. As others have mentioned, the postie seems to have trouble getting the A4 one's through the letter box, and they end up crumpled! Debbie |
