This is a puzzling me, can you help? Below is the Hill family in 1851. Amongst their children is Edward, who was actually born in Old swinford worcs in 1844, and who died not long after, well before the 1851 census. So who is this Edward? There is an older daughter sarah, brn 1820, but I can't find any details for her. No, don't mind. What I should have said in original post was that although the children were/could heve been born elsewhere, they always came home to old swinford to be christened |

Linda, the LDS site could easily have it wrong - check the source - it may well have been information contributed by a third party. As for the older sibling she would no doubt have married by then. There seems to be little mystery here. |

Lynda - is the record on the LDS site an extracted record (usually pretty reliable) or a submitted one (sometimes utterly unreliable) |

The info on the lds site is an extracted copy, so I think it is correct. Yes the elder child had married, but I did wonder if edward was hers, a grandson, not a son, but he is'nt. I can't find him on the 1861 census either |

I've just checked the death register for January 1845 and the only two-year old Edward Hill died in Bethnal Green, so I don't know where the LDS site sourced their information. Looks like your Edward survived after all. |

ELLEN HILL - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 17 APR 1831 Old Swinford, Worcester, England From the census info above it looks like the family moved to Staffordshire for a while and had 2 more children. Ann may have been pregnant when Edward died and she called the new child Edward which was common in those days. Georgina. |

The Edward Hill on the IGI who is down as dying in 1845 was baptised in August 1843 (not 1844). The other Edward is only born 1844 on the census - could also have been 1845. It seems most likely that a new baby was named after his recently dead brother. Anne |
