Merry Report 8 Apr 2006 10:47

Don't forget, ''Sister'' could also be sister-in-law....so his bro's wife or his wife's sister, or even his wife's brothers wife....or any other permutation you can think of!! Tom, I am still laughing at the idea of a woman called Enoch!! What was the registrar thinking of! Merry

maybe it was his wife - but it got mistranscribed wrongly. I have one where the informat is Enoch Bradbury, mother, when he was definateley the Father. Have you searched for a marriage for him - or have any of his children's birth certificates? Also - have you tried to find a sister elizabeth living with other rellies at the time of the census?

I've recieved death cert this morning for my gt gt gt grandad. died 1875 The informant was Elizabeth Moorwood sister I've no record of him having a sister called Elizabeth. He was living with her at time of his death, do you think it could have been that they were actually a couple but not married? if not where can I look for info on Elizabeth Moorwood? I've checked 71 and 81 census and can't find anyone that matches her
