Hi Zoe: I haven't checked them out yet. I have been in touch with other people on this site connected to the Greens and they don't seem to know Penny or Polly. I will have to do more checking. Thanks for all your help. Shiela

Do you have your great grandmother in the censuses and have you followed her siblings through until 1901? Zoe

Hi Zoe: The info. was on the back of the pictures and it was 1926 & 1927. We know that our Gt. Grandmother was Augusta Green so we are presuming they are decendents from her brothers but can't figure out how. I should think they would be on the 1901 census under Green as that should make them around late teens early twenties I have looked under the Cossey name but can't find anything. Thanks for your help. Shiela

Have searched 1st 3rd and 4th quarter of 1926 marriages no sign of a Joe Cossy. Cannot seem to find 2nd quarter on ancestry at the moment. Did they have any children maybe if you start from that point you may get the correct names on the birth certs Zoe

Do you have the marriage refs? Where did you get the grooms names from? Zoe

Zoe Report 11 Apr 2006 21:52

Sheila they could have been 18 when married as I say never presume anything my grandparents married when grandma was 17 and grandad was 31~ we always thought grandma was older. Best thing to do is buy the marriage certs to be certain, as I said it would then give fathers name and occupation and age ~ which you really need.. If they have passed on now,do you know when as the death cert should either have a year of birth or birthdate!Obviously info is only as reliable as the the informant Zoe

Hi Zoe: I presume they would be in their early 20's in the 1920's so they would be born around 1891or there abouts. Don't know their father's name yet, that is why I am trying to find their names so that I can find out the father and mothers name. I have to go out for an hour or so will check back when I come home. Thanks Shiela

Hi: thanks for your replies. I have a copy of their wedding pictures. They were both married in the 1920's. On the back of the pictures it is showing Chester le Street which I know is in Durham as my mother is from there. Polly married a Joe Cossy? in 1926 and Peggy married a George ? in 1927. I tried to find them in the 1901 Census but nothing under Penny or Polly - so this is why I am trying to find out if they had a proper name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Shiela

Hi Everyone: I am trying to find in 1901 a Penny and/or Polly Green, but can't find them in the Durham area. I know Polly could be Molly or Mary but what could Penny be short for? Thanks for any help on both these names. Regards Shiela
