My problem is just the same as yours, Merry. I already have the easy ones from The Genealogist, British Origins, Stepping Stones or whatever, but the ancestry search is not making it as easy as it could to find the tricky ones. If only they allowed you to search for 'strays' rather than having to look through pages and pages who were 'born in same county' to pick them out. And it would help a lot if they could put in a check for another name in the same household, like 1837 have on the 1861 census. Or if they let you search on occupation. Well, another day I will search through all the William Williamses in Breconshire for a carpenter, or the Thomas Morgans for a tailor, but I can't face that tonight! Still, I did find a family of my rellies and a family of my other half's rellies on Scotland's People's 1841, so I suppose today has been good...(mind you, it used up my £6 worth of credits just to find the two families) Kate.

It's no good, I shall join Merry in a the gin and panadol, and then retire to bed. Perhaps my brain will be less fuzzy and overexcited tomorrow. Half of mine I can't find in 1841 (but not being very good at lateral thinking with the spelling variations tonight) and the ones I can find are not turning up with the people I expected them to be with - and of course, with no family relationships stated in 1841, it's a leap of faith to say 'Oh, must be an aunty/uncle/rich cousin etc'. This is not going to be as easy as I thought! Still, the benefit of that it there will be plenty to keep me going for some time to come - and with no more censuses to look forward to for another 6 years, pehaps that is just as well. Tina

I think my problem is, the ones who hadn't strayed far from home I already have in 1841 from other sources....... It's the ones who might be anywhere else in the country I'm having trouble with! Merry

Ladies I have found about 90% of those I have looked for this evening:-) I have had to be inventive with some of the spellings though:-) Keep looking, I'm sure they're in there somewhere...lol Bev X

Anne, Im sure its an incomplete trial run through - no one has received their 'advance notice' emails and there is nothing on the main page announcing it.

I have been offering to do look-ups and am not having much luck. Even very unusual names seem to be missing. I wonder if any of you kind people could look at my thread and see if I am missing something.

This 1841 is doing my head in!! Am I right in thinking that if you know your person could be anywhere OTHER than his county of birth, that there is no way to outsort all the people who said No to the County Q?? Merry x
