I registered on this site a while ago. Went back and found a posting from someone researching the history of Rendcomb, the village where my gt granduncle killed someone in 1862.

No idea of course whether this person still visited site or not, but I mailed a message and wow! E-mail back saying she knew a bit about the murder and guess what - she lives in the house where it happened! I was amazed as I thought it would have been demolished yonks ago. She's sent me a photo of it - isn't the internet wonderful! And we have promised to share our info. I am so chuffed! It just shows that you never know where you will make contact. Even better, the grandson of the blacksmith who was the village constable in 1862 is still alive, and he is the blacksmith to whom my grandfather was apprenticed!!! nell

Nell, I've found out so much after I started researching on the internet. Congratulations in your findings! What a coincidence, eh? Speaking of coincidences... I live in a small town near San Francisco. One day, I was talking to another mum at school, we ended up discovering that she had bought my mum's house in San Francisco 25 years ago! Hope you have fun with your recent discovery!!

I've replied as she has information on one of my families, unfortuntely it's the branch I have loads of info on, was hoping for someone from one of my little twigs that need to grow Linda

These connections are amazing, aren't they???? You must be really chuffed! I emailed a village website, attached a photo, and asked if they knew if the house in the picture was still standing. The reply came that the writer hoped it was, as he was sitting typing at the upstairs window showing in my 1880's photo!!! It's a good job your correspondent already knew about the murder, as it happened in her house! You might have given her a shock!! Merry

My new contact is brilliant - she's sent me the transcript of a text in the church about my great-grandfather taking part in a bell ringing event (over 2 hours) in 1913. She is as interested in what I know as I am in what she knows, its very thrilling!! Just wish someone knew something about my Norfolk Dunts & Grays! nell
