Got my great grandfathers death cert dated 17th Feb 1936 ( inquest held) died age 61 and also sent for his birth cert or I had hoped it was his cert but it isn't and I'm now back to the drawing board. Help/advice/tips please Henry Fellows( or sometimes known as Harry ) died as above age 61, got a birth cert for a Henry/harry in 1876 in Birmingham but it can't now be him as the age doesn't match. he was born sometime between Jan 1875 and Feb 1876 which is right for his age when he died, born in Birmingham as per the census records, and his Father is also called Henry as per the census records and also named on the death cert of 1936 is but for the love of God I can't find his mother or even his birth reg now to send for the right cert!!! Help Joanne

does one of his siblings have a more unusual name that you would be able to trace their birth cert?

Siblinsg I can find are Emma born 1868 in birmingham and Charlotte 1879 in Sheffield. I can't find birth reg;s for either Emma or Charlotte - but the birth cert I did recieve and which I'm sure isn;t Henry's has his mother as Charlotte and father as Henry - know that the father is called Henry, but maybe it is possible that it is his cert as he does have a sister called Charlotte possibly named after his Mum. In 1881 only Henry junior and his sister Emma are together, father is in workhouse, Mother has gone and Charlotte the youngest sister is also missing. It;s a puzzle Joanne Jim that is the one I have the birth cert for and it is not mine I can see that now - Tom that is mine in 1881 living alone with his sister and a housekeeper who later marries his father per my message above

Are you certain that the age on the death certificate is correct? I assume that since there was an inquest, that the coroner was the informant on the death certificate. He wouldn't know the deceased personally, so would only have word of mouth that the age given was correct. I have death certificates where the age is a few years out. Kath. x

Really sure the age is right as the majority of the census records for him give DOB as 1875. His parents aren't Charlotte who married a Henry Fellows as their son is with them in 1881 mine isn't he is in Sheffield where they settled and then died after being orn in Birmingham

This is my family in 1891 - enumerator spelt the name wrong It is certainly Fellows Charlotte Felours abt 1879 Sheffield, Yorkshire, England Daughter Ecclesfield Yorkshire View Record Emma Felours abt 1850 Sheffield, Yorkshire, England Wife Ecclesfield Yorkshire View Record Frank Felours abt 1881 Sheffield, Yorkshire, England Son Ecclesfield Yorkshire View Record George A Felours abt 1891 Sheffield, Yorkshire, England Son Ecclesfield Yorkshire View Record Harry Felours abt 1874 Birmingham, Warwickshire, England Son Ecclesfield Yorkshire View Record Henry Felours abt 1850 Birmingham, Warwickshire, England Head Ecclesfield Yorkshire View Record Tom Felours abt 1884 Sheffield, Yorkshire, England Son Ecclesfield Yorkshire It gives the wife/mother as Emma, but Emma is only the mother to the children born after 1881, infact Frank who was born in 1881 is not a Fellows he is a Hall which was Emma 's name in 1881, if that makes sense, so even with this I'm no closer to finding the mother of Emma born 1868, Henry born 1875 or Charlotte born 1879 and cannot find a birth cert for either of the three of them Joanne

Just come back to my thread and it has now gone from 16 postings down to 12???? Anyway thanks to Tom and Kathleen for your help - but looks like my great grandfathers brick wall prior to 1881 is going to stay rock solid for a long time yet. Joanne

Brenda could be the first one but I have't yet found him using a middle name - not on census, marriage cert, childrens baptisms or even his death cert. Was hoping to find one of his sisters birth reg's as I thought they may be easier to trace but they are just as bad as him Thanks for trying Joanne

BRICK WALL AGAIN, NEVER give up! We have an amazing story which is based on persistence. After more than 50 years, my wife has been reunited with four sisters and a brother. This was partly through Genes Reunited. It's a long story and it's gonna be longer because there's another sister and two brothers still to find. If you want to read it you can get the gist on http://[email protected]/nevanddoreen/family search/ We thought it would be easy because she had an unusual name (MINTO). Yes it's unusual isn't it? No! There's thousands of them out there and most seem to be in the Durham area where we live. So keep on trying and the very best of luck to you. We hope you will eventually be rewarded as we have been.
