Wondering if there's anywhere on Genes to post a DNA number? Did one with MyHeritage a couple of years ago.
I'm not on MyHeritage as a paid member anymore.
I've been with Genes for over 20 years, and going to get back to searching etc

Cheers

aka Mags as I used to use :-)

Isn’t that just a long stream of numbers?

Can you access your DNA matches account without being a member?
If not then you probably need to rejoin to get them.

Personally I get very few usable matches from MH but loads on Ancestry.

Don’t forget to use the Search/ search all members trees on here.

If you have any tree on here then also use the surname summary under the Relatives tab.

Good hunting!

What do you hope to achieve by so doing?

I need to be a paid member, on MyHeritage to access others unfortunately.
They're very good at sending 'matches' but as soon as I go look, I get the 'need to pay' box come up.
Thanks for your feed-back tho - Nameslessone :)

As for 'hope to achieve' - it just proves relationship - ErikaH

Of course, the "Search All Member Trees" angle works in reverse, too.
If your tree is on GR, and includes your own name, another paid-up member, who might have received your name as a DNA match, could contact you that way.

You could also start a thread with your DNA number in the title.
Then in the (probably highly unlikely) event of another member happening to search for that number they would see it and could contact you.

If you did that, your post might also possibly show up on a Google search - although not necessarily.
Anyone finding it would still have to have paid GR membership in order to contact you.

I am not a paying member of MH, I was able to upload my dna from Ancestry some years ago and can access my matches. I can see a small part of their trees but not all of the larger ones.

to be honest, I have no idea what my 'dna number' is and I having been researching my dna matches for quite a while.

Unless any of your ‘matches’ are actively using GR, they are unlikely to see your post. I feel you would probably benefit more by doing actual research - start by looking in ‘search all member trees’ as suggested earlier

Only a very small handful of people use these boards nowadays.
