Could anyone please advise me how to get a closed record on the 1939 register opened up?
I'm told my mother's record is still closed despite her passing away in 1989.
I don't have paid access to FMP at the moment but when I do free searches I can find my grandparents and my mums brother but not my mum.
Living in Sale Cheshire (poss 2 Witley Drive)
Grandad - James Toomey
Grandma Ella Mary Toomey nee Hickey (fmp has error of Alla)
My uncle Kevin Patrick Toomey 1934 - 1982
**my Mum BRENDA WINIFRED TOOMEY (married Swain) 1936- 1989
I'm just asking for advice please of who to contact.

To open a closed record on the 1939 Register, provide proof of death for the individual to Findmypast by uploading a death certificate. Records for people born less than 100 years ago are closed unless their death is recorded; if they died after 1991, submitting a certificate via the "Open this record" button unlocks it.
Steps to Open a Closed 1939 Register Record:
Locate the Household: Search for the household where the person lived in 1939.
Identify Closed Record: Look for records marked as "officially closed" (usually indicates the person was born less than 100 years ago and is assumed alive, or died after 1991).
Submit Evidence of Death: Click "Open this record" on the household page. Upload a digital scan of the death certificate via the form.
Wait for Review: The process is free for subscribers, but can take time to be verified and opened.
Alternative Methods:
Wait: Records are automatically updated and opened when an individual reaches 100 years old.
The National Archives: If you cannot use Findmypast, you can submit a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to The National Archives.
Records of individuals born less than 100 years ago who are still living, or whose death was not recorded in the NHS system (which updated the Register until 1991), remain protected by privacy regulations.
