I don't have my DNA with Ancestry, but my DNA with MH changed not long ago too.

I was pleased to find an increase in Scottish DNA, to 55%, and to gain most of the rest as English, 44%.
However, since the excitement of finding this, I have been musing over the results.

If I have 55%Scottish, that implies that even if I got only Scottish from my Dad, I would still be getting Scottish from Mum.

Now, Dad was descended from a family from Berwick upon Tweed, so presumably Scottish, as well as a family from Aberdeen. However his mother was from the Morecambe Bay area, bringing in a line from London too. So Dad presumably had the potential for half Scottish, plus whatever his mother brought in.

Mum's father was from a line from 'Lancashire north of the sands', and her mother was from the same line as Dad's mother.

So either the results are only approximate, or there are questions need answering..

OH is in shock as Yorkshire has disappeared from his.

I seem to have a strong link to Wales and the northwest. Apart a brother who lives up there there is no known connection.

Interestingly, I have lost Ireland now as an area of ancestral interest :-S

Previously, it was a very low percentage, which I had no known link to.

I had thought my father's ancestors were all from southern counties or north west Europe, now I must look for the small percentage link to the West Midlands.

Ancestry DNA have once again rejigged their ancestral regions. there really are a lot of European changes.
For me & OH they have highlighted parts of Ireland. Two of the three appear to be correct the third is a mystery - so far..
