Is anyone going to Preston in the next few weeks before it closes for refurb until October.
I desperately need two John Heatleys looking up.
I can't find them anywhere on the internet and my last hope there is a unsubscribed record in Preston.

probably
the latest info is that LRO will close from 4th July (not June as originally stated as they have managed for a bit longer with a slightly disrupted service) until October

Thanks Ann
I think LRO is my only hope to find the two Johns Let me know if you are going and if you don't already have the details I will message them to you.
Hi Sue
I and others have spent time on that site looking for John Heatley. There appears to be no record of his or his potential fathers birth only marriage and census records.

Sue
I have looked at https://www.familysearch.org/
Perhaps you would like to look at my thread on the Heatleys and see why I think the only way I will find the information is to go to the LRO in Preston.

If you can think of anything else I would love to hear it.
Thanks

Hi Simon
As you know I have been following this thread from the start but it would be useful to have a summary of exactly what we are looking for and where. I tried to do a bit of a look up a couple of weeks ago but got lost working through the 7 pages!!

Hi Ann
I know the thread is now 9 pages.
Some of it will be a Red Herring Some of it was worth knowing to discount Much of it I am sure will be John Heatley ancestors and / or extended family.
I am still looking for John Heatley born Preston in about 1813.
Two census records and a marriage are my only real clues
Born Preston but as he was living in Manchester in 1851 Preston could cover a large area but particularly Salmsbury, Brindle and Whittle Le Woods.
Marriage: 19 May 1836 St George, Chorley, Lancashire, England John Heatley - Chemist and Druggist of London in the county of Middlesex Ellen Jackson - Spinster Witness: John Roskell Arrowsmith; L Lucas; Ann Heatley; E Craven Married by Licence by: Thos. I would love to find a definite record of his birth and his parents name.
I think his parents were
Marriage: 25 May 1809 St Leonard, Walton le Dale, Lancashire, England John Heatley - Corn Dealer Prestonn Mary Heys - Register: Marriages 1807 - 1809, Page 5, Entry 109 Source: LDS Film 1656765
I think this because John Heatleys 1813 had the middle name Heys.
It would be great to find their birth records with parents.
Possible parents for John Heatley
Marriage: 17 Aug 1784 St John, Preston, Lancashire, England James Heatley - of Salmsbury in the parish of Blackburn Betty Makinson - of Grimsargh in this parish Witness: James Fowler; Wm. Hodgkinson Married by Licence by: H. Shuttleworth - Vicar Register: Marriages 1778 - 1785, Page 136, Entry 403 Source: LDS Film 94013
If you need anything else let me know
Many thanks for offering.

Sue,
Thanks
Yes, there are dozens but can you see one that fits John Heatley 1813 above.
A fresh pair of eyes may see something.
That John does not stack up if his mother was Mary.
Also from Memory that record refers to a family who were weavers.
I live 10 mins from the LDS I had no idea you could visit

Simon,, Give the LDS Centre a ring and book an appointment..
You don't 100% know that a Mary was John;s mother so I would go to the LDS and you need to tell them over the phone which peope you are looking for and the years so they can make sure they have got the film you need.
That John I posted, his mother is betty which is short for Elizabeth.

Just remind me please which churches you have searched already
Are we looking mainly at the possibility of St Leonard's Walton-le-Dale CofE (where the John / Mary marriage took place) as if he was born between 1809 & 1815 those records are not on OPC. According to the catalogue they are at LRO but there is no guarantee that they are not missing there as well as the printed registers only go up to 1808. familysearch seems to have 1812 but not 1813 or 1814 up to Dec.
Salmesbury (CofE) is all on OPC so not there
Brindle (Cof E) is all on OPC so not there

St Leonards looks likely because there a key gaps for both the John Heatleys I am looking for. John @ 1813 & John@1784
The other churches would be in Preston St John again there are gaps around the time of the two Johns birth years on Lancs OPC
So St Leonards and St Johns.
If you could check the records at LRO it would be appreciated,
Thanks
