A big thank you to everyone who has helped me with this.
Robert Edwin was born 1894 in India, I found him on FMP on the GRO army birth indices (1881-1965).

thank you will check FindMy Past out now.

There are some Army records for him on Ancestry. Haven't looked at them all but the date of his marraige is given as Jan 1888 in Dublin.

You could try FindMyPast for the 1890 birth - Army births.

Have tried above site with no success and also googled Kirkee Birth records but not found anything for Robert Edwin Seymour. I am assuming his father was in the army and stationed in Bombay as all children were born there and I even looked through Royal Dublin Fusiliers records as I know they were a regiment stationed in Kirkee and the family upon returning to Ireland lived in Dublin, clutching at straws really. Any ideas on
where else to look would be welcomed.

so far as I can tell the only Robert Seymour on 1911 census is not the right one as birthplace is given as Armagh. Have looked for Edwin on same census and got no results.

Please can anyone advise me where to start looking for a birth in India c1890. I have no idea what area this would have been and only have few details. Robert Edwin Seymour (known as Edwin/Eddie) born to Robert Seymour and Margaret Byrne both Irish born. Is it likely Robert senior was in the army? I know the family were back in Ireland 1908. I have his death in Ireland in 1954 and know who he married but not when.
