Thanks for all your help and advice, I will ask for a discount and I will let you know how I get on. I had a look at findmypast and they do a pretty good deal which includes 1911 census, they also guarantee annual discounts, so maybe I will mention that! |

Well done Carol. As you say persistence pays. For anyone else reading this thread who fancy ringing Ancestry just a reminder that Find My Past automatically gives its existing subscribers 20% discount upon renewal. If you are trying to get a discount from Ancestry it would not be a bad idea to mention that fact if you counter any resistance. |

Have just renewed with Ancestry, I phoned like Jonesey suggested and was told she knew nothing about discounts, and that they did not give them. I then said I knew they had given 25% to other people, she put me on hold and came back with discount, but stated very firmly that this would be a one off only. If you phone you have to be persistant, they really do try to put you off. |

My apologies, it might have been another cash back site and may have been 25% or 30%. |

My Ancestry sub ran out recently after a free 6 months which I got with Family Tree Maker. I had to give them my credit card details to activate it originally. I didn't remember when it was going to finish and they just cancelled it without telling me they were going to, or offering me a renewal. Is this normal for them? |

Just had reminder from ancestry regarding renewal told me rate for Premium is now £107, I am sure this is a lot higher than last year - any suggestions? |
