This makes sense; Jane Wyndham (father not identified on birth certificate) was the daughter of Eleanor Wyndham who then married Matthew Monaghan; Henry Monaghan was Matthews nephew who then married Jane who must have taken the Monaghan name from Matthew/Eleanor.

thats the one I posted above and its states married 30 years which ties with the 1881 marriage i posted.however on that one Jane is down a Monaghan too ,,this could well be a mistake by the registrar which they wouldn't have picked up if they couldn't read or write. i have several marriage certs where some info is wrong due to mishearing etc.
It does seem strange both are listed as Monaghan on the cert. Unfortunately Now the checking points are no longer available to cant ask for a check on her dads name

Doesnt look like that Jane married Henry . there 3 ladies and two men BUT the one for Catherine Robson is for Easington so is the odd one out . i would say Catherine's ref is mistranscribed so Jane married either John Bell or Caleb Drake on that GRO record

have you looked on the 1881 census to see how the name is spelt

I have also looked on free bmd and couldn't find anything only the records that I put below. Have you tried searched just be bmd indexes for monghan and also are you sure that is the correct spelling as there maybe other variations. Try phoenetics and soundex searches.

Hi all I am trying to trace a marriage between Jane Wyndham and Henry Monghan in Q4 1880, Gateshead; I can find the Jane Free BMD - but not the corresponding image for Henry. Any ideas?
PS trying not to order a certificate if possible.
