My guess is that they didn't get married, but she just took on the Roberts' surname.
Unless someone can prove otherwise !

hi choccy, i have the birth certs for the twin boys born in 1924 mother amy roberts father not registerd i do not have marjories birth cert. a school cleaner living at the same address she was at when george was alive in wandsworth no mention of her previous name elaine

I can't see an obvious death for Harriet or a second marriage of George and Amy before his death in 1918.

hi choccy, yep thats them alright , i know harriett was out of the picture by 1913 poor little jessie only lived for abt a year. and amy had a daughter called marjorie roberts born 1915 not sure if george was father or not and later she had twin boys and i know they were not georges as they were born after his death and father is missing from certs (?father was one of amys step sons) elaine

hi potty,
thanks for that as you said not an area i would of looked in but i am wondering if this may of been a bigamous marriage?? as some other things have come to light regarding one of georges sons . so i am thinking anything is possible ! i wonder if amy was in service as the one i am looking for was a school cleaner in 1924 she was i think much younger than her husband. they may have met if she helped him with housekeeping when harriett went missing? elaine

george was married to harriett roberts nee rowe living in shoreditch area george and harriet george was born in1874 i have his birth cert and marriage to harriett and another family member has death cert but no marriage to amy although she appears on lots of family papers etc. thanks elaine

When was George born ? Have you found a death for his first wife ?

hello all, i am hoping someone can help i have been looking for a marriage for a lady by the name of amy i dont have a surname who married a george roberts i think between 1912-1918 ( george died in1918 and was married to someone else before 1912 he is with his original family in1911. amy is on georges death cert as registering the death and it says she is the widow of george so i know they married i also know sshe was with georges original family as his first wife seems oto of dissappeard do you think they were really married as i cannot find it also is amy used in place for something thank you elaine ps they were in the wandsworth area of london
