Did he have a sister Minnie born 5 July 1880? Place of birth Brighton.
From the NA site...http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/
Enter Scheuringer into the search box and only one entry comes up....The one for Minnie.
You can then download, for free, her 'Female Enemy Alien-Exemption from Internment-Non Refugee' record.
Chris
*** Update***
Minnie was a married woman so maybe Josef 's sister in law???

Could it have been his wife?
Minnie Pooke 1906 Brighton Sussex, East Sussex
Josef Schenringer 1906 Brighton Sussex, East Sussex
Can't find anything about him coming into the country.....
The only other record I can find is his death record...
Name: Josef C Scheuringer Death Registration Month/Year: 1941 Age at death (estimated): 59 Registration district: Hove Inferred County: Sussex Volume: 2b Page: 769
Do you happen to know what the C stands for Linda?
Not that it will help much but you never know.....

I notice on the original image of the 1911 Census under Nationality of every person born in a foreign country, Josef just states Austria. He hasn't
stated the year of naturalisation.

not quite Cathy
..... we did find some things that aren't on that other thread.
But I must say that it would have been better if Linda Jane had continued on the same thread so that we would not have wasted time duplicating the effort.

That's good Lin.... as long as it's not all been wasted :-)
We don't like giving in that's the trouble!!! And sometimes when people post Census and BMD details on a thread it's so that we can see all the information in one place and that helps everyone that's searching for Uncle Joe Bloggs or as in your case Josef....
I'm sure some of us will still keep looking for Josef so just nudge this thread up every now and again and who knows???
Kind regards,
Cathy
