can anyone please tell me how i go about finding out about my relatives service record. I've just been told he "went in the trenches when he was 16" But that seems to be all anyone knows? |

Not many WW1 army service records have survived because they were burnt in a fire in WW2 when the place they were stored in was hit by the bombing. |

I've had a quick look on Ancestry at the WW1 Service records (not medals), and no one of that names jumps off the page. |

There are some others for a John W Parrish, or possibly several men of the same name, in the Royal Field Artillery and the Service Corp. |

No idea how you'd work out which (if any) was yours. My lot tended to join the RFA, because there was a major army base close to their home! |
