Thanks again i looked on the Ellis island site he was born in Frithelstock,Devon he was one of ten children he was my ggrans brother although i dont know if there are any living relatives in America.i remember my nan once telling me that she had a cousin die in th sanfrancisco earthquake but i have no name for her must have been the 1906 one. |

I think he had been in New York before this date for 3 years possibly from 1902 to 1905 he had more than 50 dollars on arrival in 1911 and was going to join/stay with a Mr J Harrison 256W 15th Street New York. From the 1911 record. |

Can anyone advise me on how to trace family that has emigrated i have two gg uncles, one was born apr 1884 named phillip walder martenand went to New York and died in 1963 and the other Henry Clement Marten born 1878 went to British Columbia and died mar 1954 i know theres an age discrepancy with the latter one,any advice please |
