Trouble is Lilian Knight (grandmother) had two families, the second family living in Fulham in 1901 won't apply children all accounted for. Daughter of first family Lucy a strong possibility but i'm afraid she wasn't the marrying kind . Have checked 1911 census for her and so far cannot find her.. I would just like to obtain birth certificate for Alfred Smith to confirm or not that he is a child of Lucy.
Just picked up on your last message. Yes that is the Knights in question as you see children are not the parent of Alfred. Thanks for your help.

Many thanks for your help. Alfred Smith's grandmothers name is Lilian Knight and she was living in 1901 at Fulham but not with Alfred or his parents unfortunately. Now I have some idea which area Kings Cross comes under it has cut out quite a few entries so will concentrate on Pancras.

Can't find the third one in 1901

So he was born between the 3rd April 1900 and 2nd April 1901. Do you have the grandmothers name? perhaps you could pick her out in say the 1881/91 with his parent?

Lesley-The person I'm looking for is the one you have listed. He is living aged 10 with his Grandmother at Vaughan Road Camberwell,Lambeth.
Place of birth given as kings Cross. No mother or father listed at this address.

There is also this Alfred Smith in 1911 who's place of birth is given as Kings Cross.

Me again!
Bit of a long shot, but there is an Alfred Smith born 1901 Shoreditch, which is only a couple of miles from Kings Cross. This Alfred is also on the 1901 census, parents John and Susan (unbelievable!).

Christine - how do you know he was born in Kings Cross? If you have an address this would be helpful. Also, maybe the genealogy service in London could help - someone on here doubtless knows who to contact. Even if you find him, you will need his parents' names I think.

did he have a second christian name if so you can eliminate lots of them.

Do you know his parent's names, or his exact date of birth, if not, you may order the wrong cert.

I want to obtain a birth certificate for Alfred Smith born Kings Cross,London in 1901. Could anyone tell me what registration district Kings Cross would come under ? There are so may entries for Alfred Smith London I am at a loss to know which one to go for.
