Emigration to Canada

Can anyone access passenger lists please? My great-grandparents emigrated from the UK somewhere between 1930 and 1934 (it's remotely possible it was a little earlier). They settled in Canada. Their names were Horace and Elizabeth Powell.
Thank you!

Hello Julie - thank you for your reply.
My Horace Powell was born in 1868, so in 1930 he would have been 62 or so.
It's just struck me that I forgot to mention that he was born Harris Horace, but never used his first name - even when he married! So I have assumed he travelled as Horace. But I suppose you never know. I forgot because the whole family called him Horace, and it is only on his birth certificate that his 1st name ever appears.
I know it's a cheek, but any way you could check this...?
Thanks a million.

There is an Elizabeth Powell arriving in Halifax NS in Jan 1933, she states she is going to her husband Horace Powell,26 Empress Ave, London, Ontario. She claims to have been in Canada between Apr 1919 and Sep 1932.

Theresa - thank you very much for this. Where on earth is it from?
I do know that Horace and Elizabeth's children emigrated before them (or so I thought), Their names were Dennis, Norah, Hilda and Liizzie. I know that they originally settled in London Ontario, so this seems a very promising link.
Not quite sure about the "been in Canada 1919-1932" bit - does this refer to Horace? Sorry if I'm being a bit dim here.
I wonder if Horace (or Harris!) emigrated earlier than I thought. My mother - their grand-daughter - says she can remember Elizabeth, she thinks coming to say goodbye. This cannot have been before 1930. I always assumed she and Horace travelled together, but maybe he left first.
Any other info very much appreciated - and thanks again!

A Horace John Powell arrived in Canada 6 Sep. 1925 aboard the Doric, arriving Quebec. He was 53.

Thanks for this Margaret. It's very tempting, although my Horace would have been 56 and did not use the name John (as far as I know - the Powells were a dodgy bunch!!).
Will keep it on the back-burner!
Thank you.

I too have relatives that emigrated to Canada. When we visited Canada last year, I paid a visit to Pier 21 in Halifax and a very nice lady there in the research library offered to look up some details. I noticed that she used the website Findmypast.com which is also available online here in the UK.

hi there, I have found this thread interesting as I have gt grandfather emigrating to Canada twice between 1908/12. I haven't been able to find anyone who fits the bill leaving from England, so I thought maybe I could try the other way, see when he arrived in Canada, can anyone tell me more about Pier 21, how to do a search on the site, and so on, thanks, yvette

Jim, you star! Ths was the family's address so no question this is her.
It fits in completely with the information provided by Teresa (the other star!), and also explains why my mother (who would have been about 6) remembers her coming to "say "goodbye". This was obviously a visit from sep 1932 to jan 1933 rather than the time they originally emigrated.
And thanks to teresa - it is now obvious that Horace and Elizabeth left in 1919.

You folks have solved my original query. I can't express how much I appreciate tyou taking time to help a total stranger. And my Canadian relatives would want to thank you too!

You're welcome to jump in Yvette! Glad you got some good advice too.
I have sent copies of all this correspondence to my Canadian cousins to show them what a brilliant site this is, and what helpful people are on it.

It's me again! After such a brilliant result last time, can't resist making a nuisance of myself again.
I would love to know when my gg uncle Dennis Powell returned to England from Canada. He was born about 1905 and I believe came back in the early 30's, making him 25-30 years old. He was probably heading for his brother's house in Small Heath Birmingham (blatant hint for Jim there!!)
Any info much appreciated.
