Leigh Bayman My great grandfather Charles Alfred Oliver Bain born in t he UK in approximately 1850/60. He was said to have made and lost 3 fortunes in his life. We think he travelled to South Africa and was involved in the financial side of the gold mining industry. He met and married a Miss de Villiers who could possible have died an alcholic in approximately 1908. They had 4 daughters, Vera the eldest(became?), Daphne (became Mrs Holdsworth who had a daughter Peggy. Peggy was 16 in 1939 when war was declared and she became a Mrs Privette, their 1st son died at the age of 3 and was named after my father Deryk ), Que (became Mrs Venn), and Vivienne - born 1900 in London (married Douglas William Bayman in Johannesburg in South Africa on 3rd February in approximately 1922 - According a bible in our possession Douglas William fathers name was John Christian Bayman).- there may have been a 5th daughter that we have not heard about. Charles married again to a widow Kitty ,who had a daughter Queenie who was about the same age as Vivienne, .This marriage created a split in the family between Vera, Que and their father Charles . Daphnie and Viviene were probably too younge to be affected.
