I'm hoping someone with a world subscription can see any info on Gerrit Veen. The only info I have is that he was possibly married to Elizabeth ??. He definitely had a daughter, Agatha Maria Veen, b. 1929 in Ede, who married and eventually moved to Canada. I am told that Gerrit died in 1966.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

World subscription for which website, please?

What research have you done so far?

Where might EDE be?

How do you connect with him?

Looks like a Dutch name so Ede is probably in the Netherlands.

"Agatha was the youngest of eight children of Gerrit and Elisabeth Veen, from Ede, the Netherlands. "

As her death was only in 2023, you could try writing to the funeral home. They might be willing to forward your letter or email to a family member:

MacKay Funeral Home 1652692 Ontario Inc.
416 Dibble St. West P.O. Box 1239 | Prescott, ON K0E 1T0
Fax: 613-925-5028 | Email: [email protected]

Agatha and Frans are on ERs in Ontario from at least 1963.

My apologies. I meant to put Netherlands in the subject, of course that would've helped. This family belongs to my son-in-law and the information I have is from his mother.
Ede is in the Netherlands.
Agatha married Frans Alberti in 1950 and they immigrated to Canada in 1951.
I have the information on the Alberti side but was hoping to find more on the Veen side.
Thanks.

Could well be. I just looked on familysearch for Egbert and found a marriage for Gerrit Veen to Elisabeth Groenhuijzen in 1915. His parents were given as Egbert Luten Veen and Hendrika Maria Greveling. Gerrit was shown as Master Sergeant of Artillery.
Elisabeth's parents were given as Samuel Groenhuijzen and Maria Verweij.
It all seems to fit - even to Agatha's middle name being Maria.
Co-incidence??

I posted a thread in 2022 entitled Dutch and Belgian Ancestry, which may be of some help. Can’t C&P link at present

It was just a link to www.openarch.nl

It no longer seems to be a free site. You can get a trial sub for free otherwise you need to pay.

Seems like a good site. Free, and no need to register.
However, it doesn't have recent enough records to show the births of Egbert 1915 or Agatha 1929.

There is info on there about three online trees which include Egbert - may be worth Yvonne following up on them

There is also info that he married in 1942……..not posting details, so Yvonne can find for herself, which is much more fun

Can now C&P

Here is the link, Yvonne, in useable format...............check it out

Added later? I think it was more that we crossed. I was trying to check that the link had come up properly ( it hadn’t). I the immediately added the second line.

If I had done that some time later I would have put “ added” before the rest of the sentence.

I read your Yes comment some time ago - before you added your own extra line.

Thanks everyone. I checked with my son-in-law's mother and she vaguely remembers some talk. She contacted a family member in Netherlands who confirmed that the post by ArgyllGran is definitely the Egbert in her family. An interesting story. Thank you all for your help.
I still can't find Gerrit's birth though and the Netherlands' contact couldn't help with that.

Just read through posts again and saw birth and death for Gerrit posted by ArgyllGran. Sorry, I missed that. Thank you.
