Ive had the phone call, not a lot of help. I will have to investigate further.

I am told Charlotte Ann Bond and Jeremiah Reardon had 4 Children. Timothy 1908-1987. Jacob J 1911 to 1999. Phyliss Irene 1911 to 1992 Grace Myrtle 1920-2003

The only one I can see belonging to Reardon/Bond marriage is Grace Myrtle

She suggested that Phyliss Irene used the surname Reardon to cover up the Martin liason, but it needs further clarification which I will have to do tomorrow. Having said that I couldnt find a birth entry using the name Reardon so I doubt I will find a marriage entry or banns.

Who suggested to you that the mother of Phyllis Martin was Charlotte Bond?

Does he - or she - have any evidence to support the theory?

The son to which I referred was Jacob aged 2 months in 1911. Posted on here at 13.31

ErikaH posted the 1911 census for Charlotte and Jeremiah Reardon.

They are listed as niece and husband.

Also in the household, but not transcribed on Ancestry, are :

Miles Lewis, head, 49, collier, Ebbw Vale;

Maud Lewis, daughter, 15, Pontlottyn

In 1901 they also have a daughter Amelia, who married a Jones, so the Jones children in 1911 are hers.

I can see where you are going with this. I have just emailed the person who sprung this on me, will see what she knows, however I suspect it will be nothing.

To have given birth at the end of December, Charlotte would have had to be 'together' with Arthur (or someone) no later than the middle of April - does that seem likely with a 3-month old son to care for?

The marriage cert may not necessarily answer your question - she may have lied about her father - IF she named one.

No proof yet that Arthur fathered Phyllis

And if the mother was the Bond woman, she was lucky her husband took her back

Also, Constance had her second husband already in her home on 1911 census

Arthur was describing himself as 'single', so we can't judge whose fault the break-up was. It certainly happened before Phyllis was born

Yes, it will be worth buying the certificate to get to the bottom of this.

So the facts are: Arthur 1879 to 1915

He married Constance 1898.

Whilst he was married to Constance he fathered Phyllis.

No wonder she was quick to re marry, aftyer he died.

If the person registering Phyllis's death knew where the woman was born, the info will be on her death cert
