Hello, I am seeking any information on a William Henry Lloyd (my great grandfather) he was born abt 1887 and grew up in Manchester. Around 1907, he had a daughter, my grandmother, Annie Elizabeth Lloyd. She was born in Sheffield. In the 1911 census Annie was living in Manchester with her grandparents (lloyds) and it appears William had died aged approximately 22 years. Does anyone with matching family information happen to know what Annies mother was called or how William came to die at such a young age? There is no mention of Annies mother living with the family in 1911 either :-S Thank you in advance.

So you have his birth registration, instead of guessing when he was born.
William Henry's birth registration showing mmn as Simpson, so either Isabella wasn't married when she had John S Simpson above or gave her married name instead of maiden name when registering the birth of Wm Hy. Have checked Isabella and Ernest also mmn Simpson

Thank you for all the replies :) I hugely appreciate all your time and efforts.

So, from the information found, I can assume that Annie's mothers maiden name was Ruston. It also appears that William was likely unwell, having died in a hospital. The grave information has thrown up a new mystery though :) Could Annie have had a sister?! The information available suggests that Phyllis Lloyd was the daughter of William H Lloyd, yet I cant seem to find a birth certificate that fits. Then again, could this just be a HUGE coincidence that Phyllis' father and William H Lloyd have the same name and they just happened to be buried in the same grave?!....

With regards to the Simpson surname for John James (William H Lloyd's brother), there is a bit of a story to this. Isabella Simpson had John James out of wedlock and subsequently, without the father in the picture, Isabella and John James ended up living in the workhouse. When Isabella later met and married William Lloyd (snr) he took on John James Simpson as his own. William H Lloyd and J J Simpson were actually half-brothers.
