Walter Thatcher was a butler until he married, after which he was licensee of the Cricketers Arms in Farncombe, Surrey. The story in the family is that he was butler at Rolleston Hall, Rolleston on Dove and at Sudeley castle, Winchcomb, Gloucestershire.
I have found him in the censuses for 1881, 1891, and 1911, but there is no trace in the 1901 census. He married Sarah Fisher (who was a cook at Rolleston Hall) in Rolleston on Dove, and in 1911 He and Sarah are listed as living in a cottage about a twenty minute walk from Sudeley Castle, and his occupation is listed as butler.
Is anyone able to fill in this gap for me in any way?

Interestingly, they state they have been married 3 years in 1911, but I can't see a marriage for them. Have you found one?

Yes. It took me a while, but then I searched n Sarah Fisher and up it popped. They married in Burton on Trent in the 4th quarter of 1907, but somehow his first name was entered as Wallis.
