Have his wedding Cert. Married Dec 1873 South Norwood, Surrey to Charlotte Caroline Payton. He was 28 and she 20. He was a soldier in 2nd Battalion 4th Reg.
His father was William James Wale. Can't find anything more about him.

Some of the c/d were named Wale at birth and seems they changed to Edwards later.

(just an observation, which you might have noticed (may not be connected even!) but witness on 1888 Marriage was Charlotte Agent (Mother) did notice Aaron Agent had a John Edwards as witness on his first Marriage)

Hi,
This gets a little more confusing. Charlotte Payton married William James Wale 1873 & then James Edwards in 1888. She was also living with James Edwards in 1881. Surely she wouldn't have married Aaron Agent in 1880. I think it must be a different Charlotte Payton.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Will keep it in mind.

I do have Charlotte's Mother as Charlotte Collins b 1822 Chidham Sussex.
Married to William H Payton Nov 1866 London.
He was previously married to Anne Rowe b 1822 England.
Married 1843 Hampshire.
William H Payton died 1879 so maybe Charlotte married again.
Quite a puzzle.

Only have James Edwards on 1881 Census Living with Charlotte C Wale nee Payton and c/d in Croydon Surrey. Have him at marriage to Charlotte 1888 in Croydon Surrey. He is 35 and a Labourer. Have him again in 1891 on death aged 38. He died of a fall in Jan. His dad was John and John was deceased at marriage 1888. Don't know anything more of John. James thought he was b in Croydon but no one can find him.
Any idea how I can find either of these two men?
