hi im trying to find a father or mother for john fridgen born 1856 - 1934 i have hit a brick wall the same goes for his son bertram fridgen born 1884 who seems to have disappeared after his divorced from agnas heath any help would be appreciated :-)

Thank you everyone who has replied I do have all that info I just seem to have hit a dead end to his parents and I can't seem to find a death certificate for Bertram fridgen he seems to have dropped of the planet so to speak I'm also on ancestors and nothing on there records :-)

Well - at least we (you?) now know that the name and occupation of John Fridgen's father was
Peter Friedgen (Stone Mason) on the 1879 marriage! :-)

John Frigden was born in FRANCE not the UK. From memory, French BC are organised by 'Departments' so you need some idea where in France he was born before you can search.

Try http://www.cyndislist.com/categories/#f as a portal to explore what is available on line. If you don't read French, you may have to use an on-line translator.
Join or contact an Anglo-French FH society to see if they can help, or make an internet search for French Historical BMD to see if the question has been asked before.

All of us probably have ancestors who disappeared into the ether with no known (or record found) of their death.

The names Frigden and Bertram could have been mangled when registered if in the UK. or he could have changed his name/emmigrated (not that he has been found on on-line passenger or overseas records so far). Has anyone run a free search on Irish or Scottish records? Scottish records are held on http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/welcome.aspx

May Agnes divorced Bertram in 1921 - do you know where he was living at the time?

Thinking about it, Bertram may have been known as Bert. If he died in the UK, whoever registered his death may have thought it was short for Albert. Just a thought.
