Evening!
( Morning Sylvia and JC)
My home coonection has been off for a few days so I have not contributed much.
Hope son's birthday went well Gins
Have you recovered?

Glad everything went smoothly Cynthia. I was thinking of you.

Books and VAT return finished now. Daughter went to submit and the site is closed for maintenance. Frustrating.

we're away for the weekend, as I've said

Monday is Canadian Thanksgiving .... we have it on the second Monday in October. The Americans have it on the 4th Thursday in November

But I take a wicked delight in pointing out that celebrating Thanksgiving began in Canada a couple of hundred years before the Americans did so

he he he

many of them really don't like to be told that!!

First Thanksgiving in Canada was in 1578 when Martin Frobisher held a ceremony in thanksgiving for getting home to Newfoundland from an exploration

Good morning

it's pouring with rain here ..... 50 - 100 mm expected in the next 24 hours, plus high wind warnings

and we're supposed to be taking the ferry across the Strait .......... ferries are often halted when there are high winds

wonder how long we'll end up sitting in the ferry terminal waiting for the ferry to be able to sail???

Oh well

expect me back when you see me!!!

Mornin all............wipes croissant crumbs from vest

We had a fab time last night....about 50 teenagers all here for pre clubbin drinks. They were a delight to have around, who said kids are all thugs and hoodies

I never knew we had sooo many glasses, had the dishwasher on twice this morning!

Cyns you had a very strange day yesterday, lets hope today is a little calmer hun bun

Gee

Gee Report 9 Oct 2010 12:59

Just come back from the dry cleaners....£10.80 to dry clean a throw for the bed!

Washed all the guest duvets while I was there too, I think it would cheaper to buy new!

All quiet today....

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 9 Oct 2010 13:25

What is this perpetual obsession with washing and cleaning that you lot have?
Come and do mine anytime if you like.

Just come back from the Animal feed store and now weeping into my tea at the cost of it,I knew those bones and chewies all round would break the bank..

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 9 Oct 2010 17:04

All quiet on the Western front at the moment thank goodness. Mind you, I have just spend about one and half hours in Sports direct waiting for daughter to choose trainers. Lost the will to live part way through and went out side to lean on a bollard in the sunshine.

Ginny....motto.....buy washable throws! I took a double and a single duvet cover to be washed recently and it cost about £17 the pair.

Fans, I would rather clean than cook.....how about a swap? You cook and I'll clean!

Er.....where IS everyone? Mind you, it's Saturday so they are probably gallivanting around enjoying themselves.

Oh no....I've got to go and get peas from the freezer in a minute....I HATE cooking!

Gee

Gee Report 9 Oct 2010 17:15

Frozen peas.....cooking!

Steady on Cyns....are you having frozen fish & chips too

Dea

Dea Report 9 Oct 2010 17:20

O.K. then Ginns - It MUST be your fault - YOU mentioned dishwashers this morning and now mine is BROKE !!!!!!

It was a lovely dishwasher - a 'Whirlpool, which gave me 9 years of service but now there is a flashing going on with the start button which, according to the very impressive, ring-bindered user manual means there is a 'fault' - No further info !!!

I think it will probably be cheaper to but a new one so have spent all day looking (In between catching up on all the washing up !!)

Must decide on a new one soon as I have 'poorly hands' so can't do 'manual' dish washing!

Anyone have a Bosch dishwasher (which I think looks favourite), or any suggestion?

Dea (rubbing more cream into cracking hands).Xxx

Gee

Gee Report 9 Oct 2010 17:32

You cant go wrong with a Bosch....and the best thing is they are very quiet

If you buy from John Lewis you normally get a longer guarantee and you can order online ;)
